Type of font..

I have recently found a font website which allows you to pick different genres of font and within in them they do different styles. I looked in the 'old school' genre and found this font style :

As you can see all the fonts are similar to the types on font on the college magazine research i looked at. This shows a similarity between fonts and type of genre. Such as school and this type of blocked letters with no sans serif.

List of connotations for my student magazine.

What i would like the audience to reflect on whilst reading my magazine.

*Funny- I will create my magazine to be funny by including jokes and amusing images.
*Amusing- I will use 'witty' sarcasm to relate to my audience within text.
*interesting- I will induce topics which I know will relate to students
*engaging- I will provide interesting topics with inciting stories to get the students gripped.
*entertaining. I will keep my magazine as new and modern as i can, including good images etc..

I would really like my student magazine to interest students. A high amount of people are interested in something which can interest and excite them whilst feeding them information and engaging them at the same time. I feel this is very important as it will make the students want to read the magazine.

Audience profile

You are a student who loves to party but still wants a great success in life. You work hard when its necessary and enjoy news when it comes to hard work and how to improve! You are aware of the world around you and love experiencing new things. Pizza and junk food is common among your diet, but you also like to keep fit and healthy to allow you to have a successful future.

I would like my magazine to focus on achievers, so the students aspire to do well in life and the magazine will help to do that.

Research on college magazines.

College magazine one:

The overall look of the magazine is simple, the headline 'college' is in a sans-serif font that we all associate with a non-formal aspect. We also insinuate with this type of blocked long letters that the magazine is for school/college because this type of font is used frequently in college magazines. The magazine focus' on the colours blue, red and white. This makes the magazine look structured and neat. The denotation of the girl student is a smiley blonde girl wearing a red and white top with a 'i heart smu' logo top. She is also wearing denim shorts. The connotations of this is that the student is happy within her surrounding's, she also seems healthy and healthy, she also seems comfortable with what she is wearing. The posture of the student suggests friendliness as she is seems like a confident person. All the headlines are focused around school and topics which concern teenagers around that time.

College magazine two:

This magazine is fairly different to the other but different in many ways also. The denotation of the student is a boy wearing a plane black t-shirt with dark wash jeans and a long necklace, he has a smile on his face. The connotation of this is also wealth and happiness, the boy doesn't look angry or uncomfortable in his surroundings. The necklace suggests a wealthy aspect as well as a rebellion symbol. The headlines on this magazine are also topics which concern young adults and the font is also in the same style.
